What’s up, guys? Long-time no speak! But let’s get personal about our mental health and anxiety…

I’m sorry to not have posted anything but between school and work things got a little hectic! But I’m back with some more goodies! One of the things people don’t know much about is anxiety.

Dealing with anxiety is not as easy as people think. In this post, I will be sharing tips for dealing with anxiety and how to find yourself throughout it!

I’m starting this new section in my blog called self-help Sundays! All things self-help related from physical to mental health. It’s all about you! People tend to always forget about themselves and I’m here to tell you that that’s WRONG! You’re important and you need to make sure that you are focusing on yourself! The importance of your mental health is crucial. 

Anxiety. Anxiety is a word that tends to be tossed around so frequently nowadays but it is a good thing! It’s a good thing that people are finally understanding what anxiety is and why it is important to know if you are someone who is dealing with it. 

Anxiety is not all of you and to be very honest, I had to learn that the hard way. As a student who feels the pressure of college and trying to pay tuition and all these bills, I begin to feel extremely overwhelmed and disappointed in myself for not being able to manage it. 

Throughout the years, I was finally able to push through and find myself through all of my anxiety. And still to this day I use these techniques to help me out and, of course, I wanted to share it with all of you! Let’s get started with these tips for dealing with anxiety!

 

Tip 1: Write down positive things about yourself and refer to it when you feel overwhelmed. 

Keep this list inside of whatever notebook or journal that you love to keep with you. And when you start to feel stressed, heavy breathing, and overworked. Remind yourself how amazing you are at a time where you feel that you aren’t. Remind yourself how beautiful you are at a time where you’re feeling flushed and feeling like you aren’t enough.  

Our biggest roadblock is our mind. If we feel down and we continue to mentally think badly about ourselves, we fall into a pit of despair. We deserve better, mentally and physically.

Tip 2: Give yourself space.

If you’re in a crowded place, take the time to separate yourself from other people. When you excuse yourself from a crowd, you’re able to focus on yourself. You’re able to breathe and calm your nerves. Always take a step away and zone in on yourself. You are important! Dealing with anxiety can be hard, especially if you are surrounded by people you don’t know, put yourself first and separate yourself. 

The power of being able to fully focus on yourself. It can give you so much clarity that you never knew you could find or need. 

 

Tip 3: Understand that it’s okay

One of the hardest things is that people tend to forget that having anxiety does not complete you. Nor does it define who you are as a person. You are not “weak” or “sensitive.” 

So many people fight and either let it consume them or ignore it. You are someone who has anxiety, not anxiety who controls a person. 

If that makes sense, but my point is that nothing is wrong with you. You are perfect as you are and the best way to find yourself through your anxiety is to learn who you are. Invest in a hobby, learn your dislikes and likes, your favorite methods of stress relief.

Dealing with your anxiety allows you to be able to actually live your life and enjoy every moment of it because you know how to properly handle it the best way.

Tip 4: Consider Therapy

Most people think that therapy is just laying on the couch spilling your problems

No, it’s not

It actually is a journey that allows you to build and grow

Therapy allows you to find the root of your problem and heal them in a healthy way

Maybe a suppressed memory from your childhood is causing you to feel anxious or something subtle is triggering you

Therapy will start the healing process and requires you to put the work into your mental health

Don’t overthink it, just do it.
